child together, Arianna. We liked the Silicon Valley well enough but noticed the tremendous traffic and escalating home prices. After three years, we found our perfect location in Santa Rosa CA, in the heart of wine country. I was offered a position in a local emergency medicine group, and eventually became an ER director. I became board certified in emergency medicine via the practice experience route, to add to board certification in family practice. Our third wonderful child, Jared, was born in Santa Rosa. A residency might have been preferable and easier, but circumstances didn’t seem to head that way, so I became a lifelong learner, and enjoyed most of the practice of medicine. I retired from practice after a 40-year work career in 2012. Catherine retired from her community college teaching and counseling career in 2013. We have been busy since with travel, including seeing our kids who live in NYC, Panama, and Chile. I volunteered at Jewish Community Free Clinic and also coordinate a road bike group of friends. I still get to the ski hill occasionally and try to do my part for the environment and local culture through our synagogue’s committees that I help run. Catherine is busy with hiking, meditating, cooking for cancer victims through the Ceres Project, and volunteering to help out new moms. We both like to cook and recently remodeled part of our home into a rental studio to help ease the housing shortage here. We look forward to catching up with old friends and classmates in May, before, during, and after the BOG 50th celebration!
