behalf of the Rhode Island chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics and lately for the Georgia chapter — in child automobile restraint and teen driving legislation, proven effective in other states. For his injury-prevention activities, he remains adjunct professor of pediatrics at Emory. He is also currently heading the Georgia Rural Health Connection, which is a multi-disciplinary, surprisingly well-
funded effort to improve health care in the least served 19 rural counties in Georgia. The plan is to improve eventually health care in at least the worst 50 rural counties, and ultimately in all 159 of Georgia’s counties, both rural and urban. John’s main hobbies remain pre-World War II jazz, travel, and being Clara’s husband.
