I can think of many memorable moments from medical school—mostly all good: Luann Mostello could write notes, but couldn’t read her writing. My notes were great, but I couldn’t understand parts of them. Luann understood everything. Studying with her was wonderful. Thank you, Luann! Some may remember the pranks played on me. There was the Roger Steeper, Pete Densen, and Merton Suzuki spoof where Pete and Merton hid under my bed in old Reed Hall and Director, Student Mental Health 1988-1994 Associate Dean for Student Affairs 1990-2002 Spouse or Partner’s Name: David Allan Waller, M.D.
scared the visiting Luann and me half to death! Then there was the recorded conversation between me and Franklin Chu when two phones were hooked together, and we each thought the other had called. This was played at a class party. I have to say, I have always been an easy mark--and I still am! And I surely remember “Thirsty Thursdays” in “new” Reed Hall 12-B. What highlights have you experienced since graduating in 1970? Personally, the highlight in my life has been my family. David, whom I met as my intern on my first rotation in pediatrics in my junior year, always encouraged and supported my career. Our two daughters and their families have been kind enough to stay close-by, and we see our grandchildren frequently. This is a true blessing, since travel is something I do not like! A highlight for me, career-wise, was being named associate dean for student affairs. And from there evolved my true passion. I’m sure I was appointed to this position because my
