How have you changed since medical school? The experience of the History of Ideas degree broadened my perspective in all aspects of professional and private life. I will always cherish and value the many years I spent at Hopkins.

Realization that in dermatology I could both practice clinical medicine and pathology. What highlights have you experienced since graduating in 1970? I spent most of my medical career in academic medicine beginning in the Department of Dermatology at Hopkins from 1977-1993, then moved to Indiana University as chair of Dermatology from 1993-2001 and then was appointed dean and provost of Eastern Virginia Medical School from 2001-2004. I returned to Hopkins from 2005-2007 and also served on the pathology faculty at Virginia Commonwealth University from 2005-11. I finished my career in the private practice of dermatopathology retiring in 2013. It has been my privilege to have served with so many wonderful colleagues and students in patient care, research, professional organizations, and medical administration over the years.
